Hi APOC! I hope everyone is doing well. Sydney's Games really brought back the memories of the fun we had in 1996! I'm sorry I missed the reunion in August. I'd love to hear from anybody out there! I just returned to Atlanta after 6 months teaching in China. Right now I'm looking for my next challenge...

"The more things change, the more they remain the same." Have become an official 'event groupie'. I figure that if I keep jumping from event to event (APOC, '98 GWG and now the '99 Special Olympics) nobody can shoot me. I think it is the hours, pressure and above all the laughs that keeps me in this profession. I am up here in Raleigh with Joe Freddoso (CEO), Mike Cunningham (Marketing), Jaci Field (Venues), Rob Thompson (Venues).

Greetings to all former APOCers. Just found the website per a tip from Harald von Selzam. I'm still in Atlanta. Took a job last September as Associate Director for the Center of Sports Medicine, Science & Technology at Georgia State University. Like to hear how everyone is doing...feel free to drop me a line!

Guten Tag! Believe it or not, I am still in the United States. I heard about this site from Andy Fleming the other day and just read through all your wonderful notes. Eva, Lennie and I live in the beautiful town of Celebration, FL, minutes away from EPCOT Center and Animal Kingdom. I work as a consultant for Walt Disney Imagineering, after contracting with a steel and then with a chemical production company in Cleveland Ohio in 1997. Since the weekly commute between Cleveland and Norcross was tiring, we decided to move the whole family to Florida for this one year project with Disney. Never had more visitors before (except for during the Atlanta Games!), particularly in the winter months. Unfortunately, end of April I will be assigned to a new project and again we will have to decide between long distance commute or relocation. Well, we will take things one step at a time. Hoping you all doing well! Often think and talk of you. Best wishes.... Harald

I just found this web site and reading everyone's messages has brought back many memories of hectic times and hair raising deadlines. Did anyone else go prematurely gray during that experience? Hope everyone is well and content with their after-APOC life!

Hey this is so great! I am getting homesick for the crazy days of APOC!! I have my Blaze stuffed animal on my desk here at my new job and everyone is always asking about it. That got me thinking about APOC and lead to my finding this web site!! Congratulations to everyone on their post-APOC successes! By the way Evelyn, I'm all for a cruise in 2000!! And Amy Phillips, where did you go after GWG??

Thanks to Ron and Judy Lykins for the plug and all their help - during and now after the Games. Some of you have asked about a web site for our "unofficial" Paralympic Legacy Programs. Yes, we have a site at www.aaasp.org - see our teams, games schedules and even get directions to the venues where our youth teams are playing. Come see us! Mark Ponzillo, Ken Roberts and a few other folks you'll recongnize are referees, coaches and all around "mentors". We're serving hundreds of disabled youth across Georgia and moving into other states soon. COME HELP! We need referees and more. All the Best. Bev

Happy New Year, everyone! Ron and I relocated back to Minnesota last summer, we forgot it would ever get cold. Today it is 15 degrees below zero! What have we done -- Ron's working at Concordia University; I'm a recruiter/resource manager for a consulting company in Minneapolis. We're happy to be back in the Midwest. Just found this site. Anyone still in Atlanta who is interested in staying involved in disabled sports, call AAASP (American Association of Adapted Sports Programs) at 404-294-0070 and ask for Bev Vaughn. She's the president and a former APOC volunteer. It's a great organization dedicated to working with kids in the school systems across the state of Georgia. Ron was the director of training and still consults with them; Mark Ponzillo is helping to develop the swim program and other things; Ann Cody is a board member. Take care everyone!

Hello all! Never a dull moment in the Norris house. We are moving (yes, again!) to Fairfax, VA just outside of DC. We are very excited. Ken is already there and Daniel and I will join him at the end of September. I'm going to be a full-time mom and hopefully start a brother or sister for 4 month old Daniel! Hope all is well with everyone. My email won't change so everyone keep in touch!

Hey everyone! I was checking out all the entries in the guestbook and trying to write a bunch of emails to catch up with people....then I decided it would be easier to reach all the people I wanted by just signing the book! CAN YOU BELIEVE...I just realized...IT'S BEEN 2 YEARS NOW! I think the only thing that hasn't changed for me since then is I'm still as busy as ever. I'm also still in Atlanta. I've been with the Georgia State Soccer Association for 18 months now. Would love to hear from all of you. I think we all need to get back together too ... I'll help if someone else will join me in putting something together. Take care everyone and write back!

What a great discovery - thrilled to hear you have all moved on and are doing great post APOC. SPOC is kicking along, and yes Tim and I are still here. I think this year is the hardest with the wonderful memories of Atlanta fading and Sydney 2000 still seeming so far out! It will be a breeze next year. Look forward to seeing you all here in October 2000. Best wishes - YAEL

Hi! I just got home from Sarah Werner's wedding. It was a lovely wedding and a small APOC reunion since we had Rachel Gott, Ann Cody, Donna Weidler (and husband Bob), Troudy Hough (and husband Don) and Charlie Childers there. It was good to be with a Paralympic crowd again. I just got hooked up to the internet at work so this is my first time seeing the website. Very cool. I know everybody is mad at me because I never put out a second newsletter. I'm sorry! You know - I have a job (ugh!) and for some reason they think I should spend my time working for them instead of doing something fun - but don't give up on me. I will get a second edition out some day. While we were all together for Sarah's wedding - the subject of a reunion trip to Sydney in 2000 came up again. Is anyubody out there up for it? Let me know.

I'm a late arrival to this great site, but it doesn't mean I haven't been thinking about everyone and wondering what you've been up to (now I know!). I'm especially glad to see Bill escaped Greenpeace-- could've been nasty. As for me, I moved to L.A. 18 months ago for a change of scenery and (so far) have survived earthquakes, El Nino and the infamous smog. L.A. has some pretty cool places-- the new Getty Center is amazing-- and I'm trying to see as much as possible while I'm here. I might be moving back East, possibly to NYC, but I'll let ya know. Best wishes!

I have been in Seattle & Mt. Vernon WA, San Fransisco and Gilroy (Garlic Capitol of the World), CA, Shreveport, LA, Marshall and Mineola, TX, and Little Rock AK. Just unpacked from 2nd move in 3 months and found Evelyn's newsletter with website. Left Atlanta in April and started with a different Dept of Defense office. Office of Special Events got caught in political mousetrap and was eaten by the US Army. They are now trying to figure out why a special event can't be run like a war. We tried to tell them but they wouldn't listen. My new assignment is totally out of the special events world, I am a budget analyst. I still run projects but now from the funding side only. Glad to see so many people using the website message board. Good work Bill and Evelyn.

It's great fun and very rewarding! We actually immunized 140 million children in India on 7 Dec - can you believe what orchestration that would take??!! I am glad to be connected to the APOC web. Hopefully we all can continue to work on improving current programs providing sport, exercise and physical education for persons with disabilities.

Nice site Bill, thanks. Also wanted everyone to know that due to your stewardship and Dean Harrison's close monitoring the Paralympics cleared our account with IBM and did not have to pay them for any missing, lost, or stolen computer equipment. No small task and much credit to all venue managers. Thanks.

Just found the APOC Web site. Great job! Talked to Utah Transit people a couple of weeks ago. Imagine doing it at altitude in the dead of winter!

As we have a special needs son-we will keep up on the paralympics via your web site. I can see the headlines now. "Slate Gray wins multiple gold medals in swimming during the 2008 Paralympics".
