| dr gayle B.A., M. Div., D. Min. Gayle is an ordained elder in the North Georgia Conference. Prior to her active membership in the Conference she served on the Conference Council on Youth Ministries, as a Counselor and Director at Camp Glisson, and as Youth Director/Minister at Christ UMC, Milton, Fla., St. Andrew UMC, Marietta, Cornelia UMC, and Bascomb UMC in Woodstock. Gayle received her B.A. degree from Asbury College in Christian Education, M. Div. from Candler School of Theology, and was the first D. Min. graduate of the Beeson School of Biblical Preaching and Pastoral Leadership at Asbury Theological Seminary focusing on Preaching and Spiritual Formation. She was married to Rick, also a member of the North Georgia Conference. They were the first clergy couple to serve two full-time appointments in North Georgia. Rick died of cancer in 1984. Gayle served as Minister of Education and Youth at St. James UMC, Atlanta ('80-'83); First UMC, Smyrna ('83-'84); pastor at Bascomb UMC ('84-85); Minister of Education and Singles at Northside UMC ('85-'90); and pastor at St. Andrew UMC, Carrollton and Director of the West Georgia College Wesley Foundation ('92-'94) In '90-'92 she attended Asbury Theological Seminary as a pilot project for the Beeson Pastor program. She also taught in the Christian Ministries Department at Asbury College in 1991.. She has directed Youth and Children's Ministries at Loudsville Campmeeting for 27years. Gayle went on medical disability leave in 1994 due to severe fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. She is available on a limited basis as a resource for you and your church. |
